The Knight Frank Schools Triathlon is a unique sporting event designed especially for children aged 7 to 13. Participants form teams of four, come up with a fun and creative team name, and begin their fundraising efforts. On the day of the event, the triathlon is completed in a relay format, allowing each team member to swim, cycle, and run before crossing the finish line together as a team. All abilities are welcome to participate in this inclusive event!
The Schools Triathlon Series began in 2015, founded by two dedicated Restless Development volunteers, Jim Sewell and Tessa Murray. What started as a simple idea has grown into one of the largest mass-participation sporting charity events aimed at young people in the UK.
Since its origin, the Schools Triathlon has raised an incredible £4.8million for Restless Development and other charities chosen by schools. In 2024 alone, over 200 schools participated in 10 different events, raising over £1.2 million. In 2025 we are growing our series to include two new events, so more young people than ever before can get involved!
“I’m so excited about the potential for this event – we see it becoming the schools’ equivalent of the London Marathon.”- Jim Sewell
The Knight Frank Schools Triathlon aims to encourage participation and give back to the wider community. Jim and Tessa envisioned the triathlon as a way to promote teamwork, a healthy lifestyle, and active citizenship among children in the UK. The event has successfully fulfilled this vision, engaging young people in various fundraising activities such as litter picking and hosting community music concerts.
Through their efforts, participants not only impact their local communities but also contribute to significant changes in the lives of young people around the world. The funds raised support initiatives that directly affect the most pressing concerns of young people around the world.
"Their efforts will help thousands of young people around the world who are transforming their communities through better access to health, education, and life skills. The children taking part really understand that they can make a difference, and the combination of sport and charity in a children’s event has been incredibly powerful.” – Jim Sewell
